Steve Montgomery
Founder, Chief Innovation Officer
Steven Michael Montgomery leads the creation of universal, user-centered products designed to redefine real-world healthcare—expanding access, improving compliance, and lowering cost at global scale. A medical device inventor and entrepreneur, he has spent over three decades transforming complex clinical procedures into simple, intuitive solutions that can be widely adopted beyond traditional care settings.
Montgomery is the originator of bioDesign’s growing product pipeline, including STiK Syringe Assist, a low-cost injection platform designed to democratize access to injectable therapies; SkinClip, a rapid wound-closure system; and a suite of next-generation products in thermometry and home diagnostics. His work is grounded in a clear thesis: that simplicity, usability, and intelligent design can unlock massive gains in healthcare delivery worldwide. As Founder and Principal of bioDesign since 1992, he has developed a broad portfolio of medical, diagnostic, and consumer health products, integrating industrial design, engineering, and human factors into commercially viable solutions.
His work has been recognized with multiple Business Week/IDSA Industrial Design Excellence Awards, and he holds numerous issued and pending utility patents. He previously served for over two decades on the faculty of Art Center College of Design and holds a BA in Industrial Design with honors from Michigan State University.
